Courses at The University of Chicago

The BSD Postdoctoral Association has started to compile a list of courses that may interest postdocs. To add a course to this list please contact the webmaster. Courses outside of the university are listed on the events page.

Genetic Basis of Personalized Medicine

  • A new mini-course that addresses the Genetic Basis for Personalized Medicine. The course starts Sept. 22, 2009 and meets for 9 sessions (download schedule PDF) This is a survey-type lecture/discussion series meant to provide attendees with broad exposure to genetics/genomics topics as they relate to a wide range of diseases. By attending, you should gain a working understanding of the main concepts and current approaches by which genetics/genomics are beginning to inform patient care. The course is intended for fellows and junior faculty, but everyone is welcome! For further details, contact Dr. Julian Solway

General Advice

  • Most instructors will allow "audits" i.e. postdocs to sit in on a class without getting credit. Be sure to contact the instructor first and ask him/her if they mind if you audit the class.
  • If you require credit for the class you should go through the Graham School to register formally for any courses as a non-degree seeking individual.
